European Time Zones and DST
Western, Central, and Eastern Europe; EU DST harmony and UK, Turkey, Russia exceptions.
Europe spans UTC+0 through UTC+3 with coordinated daylight saving in most countries. "European time" is meaningless in scheduling — specify London, Berlin, Helsinki, or an IANA ID.
Key regions
- Europe/London — UK (GMT/BST)
- Europe/Paris, Europe/Berlin — Central (CET/CEST)
- Europe/Helsinki — Eastern EU (EET/EEST)
- Europe/Moscow — Western Russia (UTC+3, no DST)
- Europe/Istanbul — Turkey (check IANA for current rules)
EU DST coordination
Most EU states enter CEST on the last Sunday in March and return to CET on the last Sunday in October. The UK uses the same dates with BST/GMT labels. Proposals to abolish DST may change rules — trust IANA updates. See DST Guide.
Asia and US links
Central Europe CEST vs Beijing (UTC+8) is 6 hours — 3 PM Beijing ≈ 9 AM Berlin. US–EU overlap sits around UTC 13:00–17:00. Use Convert and Countries.
